  1. Great site! Sure it will go on to big things.

I’ve been eyeing up the rather nice image effect at http://www.officesnapshots.com (when you click on a thumbnail) and by looking briefly at the code believe it to be some variant of ‘Highslide’ (http://vikjavev.no/highslide/) - any chance you could spell out ..as if speaking to a small child… how to implement such a thing? It’s a bit nice!

  2. Hi, first congats for this fresh new site !!!!!!!
i want to create my awn portfolio, and i was wondering if you had tips in making a photo galery in ajax or php
i want to let readers make comments on photos, make an evaluation as well.

Or if you have cool cms that offer desined galleries, like a comparative (spip, wordpress, joomla, etc..)

I have a problem wich i carry with me for a long time now. I have a website wich uses a kind of a “sketchpad-metaphor” meaning the pages are made up as pages of a sketchpad. I integrated a contact form but it isn’t really valid html. I’d like to correct this but i have no idea, how. Could this be done in CSS? The website in question is http://www.paul-mommertz.de. Especially the pages http://www.paul-mommertz.de/kontakt and http://www.paul-mommertz.de/fehler cause headaches to me.

  4. I’d love to learn how to code template for blogging cms like wordpress, dotclear, myspace … just an idea :).

  5. I think there is one issue that many people have, at least I saw lots of pots on CSS Forums regarding this issue …
I’m talking about footers and making them stick at the bottom of the browser. Found several tutorials about this but none seme to work for me with all browsers.

  6. Can we see a tutorial on how to make a webform and also how to get it to actually work. I know many designers know how to create the form, but few ever knows how to make it actually function. Someone please help. Also, how does a credit card form work? I have been ask to create a form but I don’t know what to do to make it work online. Thanks

Congratulations on the new site! I am very curious about the upcoming content!
A challenge which I’ve been playing around with is how to integrate values (such as prices and products) from any website into my own website so I can compare these values. The only possibility I can think of now is by offering an xml file to the websites that would like to have their data displayed on my site. But is there a way to automate this?

btw.. The link on the right side over here, write a tutorial - more info, is dead.

  9. I think a tutorial on sifr would be really helpful. I’ve read the docs on it, and it seems like it should be easy, but for some reason I just can’t seem to get it.

  10. I second Tibo’s request… I’m starting my first Joomla website and I’m not sure how hard creating custom templates might be? I think they have pretty good documentation, but some good tips and tricks would be great. I’ve added this site to my rss feed… looking forward to reading the tuts.

  11. jQuery.
its kick ass. I’ve wanted to learn javascript for a long time but never got around to it. i know a lot about xhtml/css so the ease of understanding with jQuery makes the transition awesome. I still just don’t know what I’m doing. I’ve spent hours trying to get the cycle plugin to work despite it being “out of the box easy”.. help with that stuff would rule!

  12. i would like a myspace advanced DIV and CSS tutorial like
    http://www.myspace.com/askingalexandria
    or
    http://www.myspace.com/myfavouritepornstar

    Thanx
    Eloy,

  13. A Tut on how to make a great Portfolio design, that be interactive or static.

    /Simon

  14. Guess I can help writing some tutorials for those topics :)

  15. I’d like to know how to get ideas for a template. I can code it, but i just cant think of what to code.
One other suggestion would be how to have a nice looking comment area (like yours) in wordpress or other platform.

Thanks for your tutorials, they help so much!

I would like to see a blog design tutorial from photoshop to wordpress.

    Snottlebocket

Not sure if this is still going to be read but I’d love to see some tutorials on the basics for people who don’t have an ajax background to begin with.

Ie. how to change (css) styles on a page with the press of a button, how to build collapseable div’s, the best method for asynchronous data checking. For example those forms that give ‘realtime’ validation feedback or those search queries that immediately show results and narrow them down as you finish typing. (see the suicidegirls.com girl finder)

  18. yea i think a detailed series about how to make a kick butt design and transform it into a wordpress theme. also maybe a tut on how to impliment some basic cms system, something that a client would be able to easly enter the text for an anouncments section of thier website.

  19. As a continuation of your first tut on integrating PayPal payment into a site, perhaps expanding on that with how to create some Ajax form field validation for the fields in your form - specifically the example of entering only ‘0-9′ and ‘.’ into the price field. Ajax form field validation can be used on any form of course, not just the PayPal example so it adds value to the tut.

Great site by the way. I’m looking forward to reading more! :)

  20. I’d love a tutorial on how to customise wordpress themes. Especially by designing in photoshp then importing to wordpress! Please! please! please! There are no good wordpress tuts on the web its very frustrating!

  21. I’d second what Tibo said. I’d like to see a tutorial on setting up a Wordpress blog/website. I’d like to learn more about the advanced features or more advanced best practices.

    Thanks!

    Love the site!

  22. I second Cristian, a tutorial on the placement of a footer so that it sticks on the bottom of the page.

Also an explanation on the hacks method for validating CSS for all browsers (including the use of @import) which confuses the heck out of me.

    Ta muchly

  23. I would like to see a step by step tutorial on how to create pages without extensions. “A Complete Idoits Guide to Cruft-Free Websites” if you will.

  24. Another great source. Keep up the good work!

    CSS Shadow text

It’s very 2.0 to use shadows in website’s. This tutorial describes how to do it with text.
The site is translated in Dutch, put don’t panic. The demo, HTML and CSS makes it clear.

  25. I would love to see a tutorial on creating forms!
I have been trying a few different methods lately and each one seems to provoke a different bug between browsers. Something with a bit of style would be cool (and semantic of course). One big problem I’ve been having is applying styles to dropdown boxes so they will fit in with the rest of the design.

  26. I second Ben and Nicole’s requests;

An end-to-end tut on creating sifr would be really handy. And perhaps a Joomla tut on taking a static page from an existing site and converting it into a Joomla template would be extremely helpful.

Joomla’s a great product, but the tutorials out there aren’t as easy and clear as they could be.

  27. I would like to see how to base an advanced website to Xhtml and css

    like:

    http://www.viget.com/inspire

with the header and footer fills all the with..

ps: sorry for my english :P

  28. I’d really like to know how to (in a tab navigation), keep the current tab highlighted in wordpress. I can’t seem to wrap my head around it since the header and navigation is in a single file.

Example: You have your tabs and your on the homepage - The “Home” tab is white and the rest are gray.
When you click on “Contact,” the Contact tab turns white and the rest of the tabs are gray.

  29. Hi there guys! So stoked to see another edition to your string of helpful sites. I don’t know if I have found any better resources! I would love to see some of the basics touched on in your tuts. As a designer I have very limited web design knowledge which can be frustrating when working with clients and developers - I hate looking like a dumbass :) Perhaps this site is more for those in this specific industry, but if you do ever have a chance to pop in some “this is where to start” and “here’s what not to do”, it would be greatly appreciated :) Thanks a lot!

I would also love to see a tutorial on how to customize the look of a site using a CMS (Content Management System)… I am undecided whether to use Wordpress, Textpattern or ExpressionEngine, so if could you explain the main differences between them and recommend the best one, it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks much,

I would also like to see a tutorial on how to customize & design a myspace page.

  32. I would love to see a tutorial about CMS (content management systems).

I’m pretty new to CMS and at present I have to manually update my clients websites - painful! There seem a lot of options out there for CMS solutions, so where does one start? I don’t want a CMS for a huge community site, rather I just want my clients to be able to change their own type and add a few PDF press releases and maybe a few pictures. Being a freelance designer on a budget, I need an open-source solution.

  33. Hey thank you for this website! :D Its awesome! :D
I would like you to do a Tutorial on “How to make a Blogger Template” Please, I’ve been looking for a tutorial like this and I have really bad luck.. :(
    That would be awesome!
can you make it a Three Column Template??
    Love this Website!!

  34. Thanks for taking the time to create such an excellent space for learning and inspiration!

Oh! I would love a tut on how to make better looking embedded quicktime movies, like you see on apple.com or (http://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio/)

    Thanks!

  35. I think a lovely tutorial that could cross over with your other site would be a Wordpress blog from scratch. None of the tutorials out there are really that useable, especially combining the graphic elements.

  36. Many before me have requested this, however I would also love to see a tutorial involving CMS. Wordpress, in particular, would be fantastic.

P.S. PSDTuts has taught me an amazing amount about Photoshop and I am REALLY looking forward to seeing what NETTuts will produce.

  37. Hi there,

    great site :)

I think a nice tutorial would be to show designers how you could make a nice gallery work using XML and maybe AJAX or javascript for a nice dynamic effect. I know how to make a nice gallery in illustrator of photoshop, but I would really like to learn to make them actually work.

Thanks and keep up the good work!!

  38. Any chance of a tut for Google Charts?

  39. Hi, I am anxiously waiting to see how you made the html version fo “family of websites” tutorial from psdtuts.com. Thanks

  40. Hi,

I would like to see a tutorial on how to customize a music myspace page for a band… And I would also like a tutorial on how to make a contact form work on a server.

    Thank you!

  41. Such a nice site Collis. I know this is not exactly website but I would really like to know more about building html emails to send out. Which email clients support CSS and which only support table based design. Also an easy CSS drop down menu would be nice.

  42. Thank the web deities! I’m so excited the guys who did PSDTuts are doing web tutorials! I can’t wait to see what cool tricks you have up your sleeves! I would really love to see some MooTools Tutorials and some tips on how to slay the stupid IE bugs. I HATE IE!

  43. i must agree with the IE comment. Im currently working on a sight and the developer i am working with works for Microsoft, and i always poke him about the stupid ie bugs. i keep forgetting to change the png alpha code wen i change images, more tips on stuff like that would defiantly be helpfull.

  44. How to make premium wordpress theme, please.
Need it badly. And i think a lot of people are searching for this.
    Thank you.

  45. I’d love to have a good tutorial on creating your own website theme from scratch using RapidWeaver

  46. Collis, do you think you could add some tutorials about information architecture and how to plan out the pages before designing? Really need a little bit about planing the site pages before designing takes place. Thanks.

  47. Good if you can publish a step by step tutorial on making wordpress and blogger templates

  48. How to set up a blog from scratch is a great tutorial idea.

  49. I would like to know which system I could use - and how to use it - in order to have a paid members area, like PSDTUT’s plus membership.

Maybe writing a tutorial on creating a custom wordpress cms with web 2.0 standards similar to http://www.webdesignerwall.com

  51. It would be awesome to see the process of creating a WordPress blog from scratch.

I know a lot people would love a Wordpress template tutorial, but after you show them that, it would be awesome to have a tutorial on how to use a Wordpress site to manage a Flash interface. Using Wordpress and Mysql to go to xml and into Flash would be an incredible tutorial that is lacking out there right now. Thanks for all the great work and for sharing the knowledge.

I think that tutorials should both have a generic “here’s now this technology works” portion so that people can get the basics, with a follow-up that has a specific implementation.

  54. Recently I was trying to make a nice looking login in photoshop and then code this in dreamweaver.
maybe you can do a tutorial on this.

    Thanks.

A tutorial on managing websites in different screen resolutions would be helpful.(just a basic request for beginners)

  56. I would really like to see some tutorials about jQuery aswell. I would really like to put some more of this stuff in my future site.

  57. I would love to learn some basic dynamic content use. I know it’s all the rage, but for a beginner, how can we pull content from a source automatically and have it display neatly on our website without us having to update it?

For example, it would be awesome to pull upcoming events from Google Calendar and rather than embedding a large, style-clashing calendar to display, have a list view that follows form and function of our custom site template.

  58. How about a tut on web marketing/SEO?

I know the #1 rule is to have content that people want (which you guys clearly do), but once you have that content, how do you get the word out?

Maybe this pertains more to psdtuts.com since I am sure 95% of the users on this site were referred here from there.

    Thanks,
    Nick

P.S. Keep up the awesome work!

  59. If this has already been mentioned, my apologies. I would be very interested in a tutorial regarding the design & development of facebook applications. They seem to be a hot commodity at the moment. There is quite a bit involved, so a series of tutorials might be necessary, but i think there might be quite a bit of interest in this.

  60. I would like to be my own wordpress theme…How to start?

I have been following a lot of the tutorials on both this site and the ps site, in a lot of the tutorials we are shown and directed to a number of fonts. But as these are not system fonts might not show up in the views browser as we want them to. Could you do a simple step by step guide as how to implement these new fonts on our sites?
something along the lines of sIFR text replacement? not sure if there are other techniques?

    thanks

It would also be cool if you could show us how to make sliders for our data on the site… for example i want to be able to change the content in a database field by sliding a bar on the site page from 0 to say 100 and then the data is sent to the database and stores the value of the slider in the field?

  63. Gravatar

    sortable tables? sortable dynamic tables?

  64. I’m sure that everyone wants to know how to setup community link feed, can’t wait

  65. Hy all!

What about a tutorial of how to build a Portal? I need to create one, and have some parts missing. Any help? Thanks in advance

    Hi

Thank you for your tutorials and tips. My suggestion is a tutorial for designing template for mambo or joomla CMS.

    Thanks

  67. I was wanting to know how you integrate a Flickr gallery into a website like on PSDTUTS. Have like 6 or so images displayed on a sidebar or near the footer.
